ENRICH YOUR DOGS MIND WITH K9 CONNECTABLES

We all know it’s important to give our dogs physical exercise, but many of us forget to exercise their brains. Having a crazy Cocker Spaniel puppy, I learned the importance of this early on and have loved finding creative new ways to stimulate her mentally and give myself five minutes of peace!

When I came across K9 Connectables, an Irish company specialising in interactive toys for dogs, I knew Chutney was going to love them and purchased ‘The Kibble Connector’ - an enrichment ball which dispenses kibble as it is rolled along. Not only can you change the difficulty by making the dispensing hole smaller, but as their name suggests all of the K9 Connectables range can be connected together creating a variety of different ways to stimulate your dog. Your dog has to work out how to break the connections which can be attached to various difficulty levels, to get to their reward.

The versatility of these toys has just got even better! K9 Connectables are launching three new interactive toys and we were lucky enough to be sent an enrichment box to test them out! Chutney’s brain has been working overtime these last few weeks and here’s what we think of them…

THE TUFF TOOTHIE PRO

This interactive toy comes in a two pack. It is great for stimulating your pup’s mind but it also aims to promote good dental hygiene. The grooves can be smeared with treats like dog-safe peanut butter, yogurt or cream cheese which encourages chewing and therefore cleans their teeth.

The Tuff Toothie Pro can also be stuffed with your pet’s food or favourite treats and connected to all other toys in the range. There are also two bone-shaped holes which can be filled with the K9 Connectables healthy puzzle treat range.

Chutney particularly enjoyed this toy as it is fairly bouncy and therefore great fun for her to chase around the room. It is aimed at strong chewers which meant it kept her occupied for ages.

THE BRAIN TEASER PRO

Unlike any of the other toys in the range, this star-shaped toy has four connection points and 6 bone-shaped holes. This toy is designed with strong chewers in mind and has three grooved areas to assist with dental hygiene.

I loved spreading different foods into the grooves and freezing this toy to keep Chutney cool and occupied on hot days where we were unable to walk her. The increased number of connecting ports makes this toy incredibly versatile and I found myself reaching for it for nearly every assembly I created.

THE SUPER STICKER

The super sticker is a suction cup with one connecting port that can be stuck onto smooth surfaces such as tiles, polished floors or walls. It has a textured surface which allows treats like peanut butter to be spread onto it.

Chutney enjoyed having this toy stuck on the bath during her least favourite activity… bathtime!

I found it useful that this toy keeps your dog in one place which meant I could hoover the living room and keep Chutney away and occupied in the kitchen.

If you’ve stuffed the Tuff Toothie Pro, for example, with lots of messy food or treats that might stain, like raspberries, the super sticker prevents your dog from carrying it up onto the furniture or spreading it over your new cream carpet.

Because of this, your dog will never get bored of these toys and it will be a stimulating challenge every single time.
